Engraved Groomsmen Gifts Are Meaningful

January 14, 2010  •  Category : Weddings

When it comes to weddings, the bride and her mom or a close friend are the ones that shop like there's no tomorrow. They relish in all the details and decisions and seem to be ordering or reserving something on a weekly basis.

The groom is fortunate that the ladies take care of most of these details. When it comes to shopping, one of the main tasks that is up to the groom, and the groom only, is the choosing and purchase of the groomsmen gifts.

First, consider how much you can afford to spend on each of your guys. If you're having a big wedding with 100+ people, you'll tend to spend more on your buddies than if you are having a smaller affair. Pick a target number and try to look only at gifts at around that price point. If your budget is $40 per gift, there is no need to look at $100 gifts. You don't want to go over budget. Stick with what you can comfortably afford.

When it comes to the gifts for your best man, groomsman, and ushers, it is easiest if you go with all the same item. For instance, if you're getting $20 personalized mugs, do that across the board. Everyone knows that your best man is a little more special because he was given the title of best man. There is no need to spend more on his gift. That will cause hard feelings with the other groomsmen and they'll wish they got better gifts like him. To keep it level, I recommend going with the same gift.

If you're on a tight budget, you can take a more modestly priced gift and turn it into a sentimental wonder just by having it engraved. For example, a $10 money clip that has a sport logo on it is a nice gift that a man will use. It is meaningful if it his favorite team. It is infinitely more thoughtful and special if you have that money clip engraved with his name or initials. A personalized gift is special. There is nothing more important to someone than their own name.

Whatever you decide on for your groomsmen gifts, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to get these engraved gifts. Online stores have a lot of discount pricing and large variety. You need to allow 1-2 months at least before your wedding to have time to get your order engraved and delivered to you. You don't want to cut it so close that you're waiting for the FEDEX truck on the morning of your wedding.
