How To Get Your Baby To Sleep

What is it about bedtime? If you ask most new parents about the toughest time of their day, many simply roll their eyes and say, "Bedtime."
One of your hardest jobs with your new baby is getting her to sleep. After all, the world is a very interesting place, and having boundless energy to expend, who has time for sleep.
A new born cannot make out the difference between day and night. What are your options? Babies don't understand logic. You can't shout or scold them, this will only make matters worse. So the best thing to do is provide a sleep conducive atmosphere.
In order to get your baby to sleep, teach your her that daytime is for eating, stimulation, and exploration. Nighttime is for sleeping. Set the standards, from the time you arrive home from the hospital, be consistent with your routine.
Setting up your routine to get your baby to sleep:
Always placing her in the crib and on her back to sleep. This will slowly become a conditioned reflex and she will associate the crib with sleep time!
Naps, too, should be scheduled at a regular time each day. Regular daytime naps can help to get your baby to sleep longer periods of time at night.
When you lay her down to sleep at night, set the right atmosphere. Don't talk or play when you feed or change diapers. Let the lights be low and soothing so that she can associate this kind of a quite atmosphere with sleeping.
A simple bedtime ritual of bathing and then a soothing activity like reading or rocking can help lull her to sleep. Being a creature of habit, these consistences will aid you to get your baby to sleep easier and stay asleep longer.
